The Analog Era

Mixing with mind and hands.

In 1877, Thomas Edison’s phonograph became the first machine to capture sound and play it back.

Over the following century, mixing grew into the analog era: consoles, equalizers, compressors and more. To this day, engineers still chase the inspiration that only hands-on hardware can give.

What we’re building

Lang3 AI Mixing Assistant — Amia

Stop operating. Start mixing.

Speak, and your session moves. Amia is the mixing assistant you used to have to hire — it runs transport, edits clips, inserts and tunes plug-ins, and manages channels, groups, sends, I/O and entire sessions. Give it a precise move and it executes exactly; describe a problem and it proposes the chain. It runs inside the free Lang3 Bridge app, where subscriptions and your account live.

01

An assistant for the whole session

Transport, editing, plug-ins, channels, groups, sends, I/O and session setup — the busywork engineers once hired someone to do, handled from a single sentence.

02

Obeys. And advises.

Give a precise instruction and it simply gets it done. Or tell Amia what you hear — “my bass sounds muddy” — and it draws on an ever-growing body of mixing knowledge, thinks the problem through, proposes the answer and carries it out. Hand over raw tracks and it builds the session and an initial mix. The creative decisions stay yours.

03

Local-first, you stay in charge

Basic requests run right on your Mac. Every change is previewed before it runs, destructive actions ask first, and anything is one word from undo.

How one request flows
  1. 01

    Say it

    > my bass sounds muddy…

State a precise move, or just describe what you hear.

  2. 02

    It plans

    Basic request Advanced request

Basic requests are carried out straight away. For an Advanced request — when you describe a problem instead of naming the move — Amia thinks it through and returns a proposed chain and settings for your approval.

  3. 03

    Confirm

Every step is shown before it runs. Destructive actions always ask first.

  4. 04

    Runs · Undo

It executes in your DAW with original values captured — one word walks anything back.

Touch your plug-ins.

Amia frees your mind to make the decisions; our controllers give your hands something real to turn again. Two purpose-built surfaces — one for equalization, one for dynamics — connect through the free Lang3 Bridge app and follow your plug-ins with no manual MIDI setup. Hardware is still being finalized and opens for reservation after the software beta — join the list to be first in line.

L3EQ

Equalizer controller

A focused surface for shaping tone: endless, detented controls where one turn is one precise move, with every band’s value and state visible at a glance. No menus, no hunting through plug-in windows — just ears, hands and the decision.

L3DY

Dynamics controller

A surface for dynamics — threshold, ratio, attack, release and makeup under your fingers, with gain reduction you can read in your peripheral vision while you listen. Compression becomes a physical gesture again.

Controllers open for reservation after the software beta. Leave your email and choose hardware updates — no deposit, no commitment.

Questions
01What exactly does Lang3 do inside your DAW?+
Four families of actions. Plug-ins: insert, remove and tune parameters. Transport: play, stop, record, locate and loop. Editing: select, cut, copy, paste, nudge, separate and heal, markers, and track, group and session management. The mixer: solo, mute, faders, pan, record arm, input monitoring, sends, I/O, and plug-in bypass/inactive. You say it and Lang3 performs the clicks, keystrokes and controller commands; describe a problem instead of a move and it proposes the chain before touching anything.
02Do I need a hardware controller to use the AI Assistant?+
No. Amia is software that runs inside the free Lang3 Bridge app on your Mac and controls your DAW on its own, with no controller required. The L3EQ and L3DY surfaces are optional, for engineers who want dedicated tactile control of EQ and dynamics. The Bridge app is free; Amia is the subscription, and the controllers are a separate one-time purchase that opens for reservation after the software beta.
03What’s the difference between Basic and Advanced requests?+
Every request is handled by Amia. A Basic request is a precise move you spell out — moving a fader, toggling a switch, transport, a named edit — and it runs locally on your Mac. Paid plans include every Basic request, unlimited. The Free plan includes the Core Basic set — transport, editing and the mixer, including sends and I/O — unlimited, while Amia voice & text plug-in control starts on Essentials. An Advanced request is when Amia does the thinking: diagnosing a problem, giving mixing advice, answering from the knowledge base, or planning a chain of actions. One coherent goal counts as a single Advanced request, even when Amia carries out several actions to finish it. A very large, multi-goal task — such as an initial rough mix of a whole session — is broken into a few sub-goals, and Amia tells you up front how many Advanced requests it will use before anything runs. Multi-step workflows are available from Essentials upward; the Free plan’s five monthly Advanced requests cover single-step guidance only — and when one of those steps tunes a plug-in, it still runs.
04How does billing work?+
Paid plans are billed per computer seat, monthly or yearly, with a 14-day free trial. After the trial the Free plan keeps unlimited Core Basic requests — transport, editing and the mixer — plus five single-step Advanced requests each month; Amia plug-in control and multi-step workflows start on Essentials. You can cancel anytime; your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period, then moves to Free. Quotas reset every month and never roll over. Yearly pays for ten months and gives two free — roughly 17% off — while your monthly quota stays exactly the same. Checkout and tax are handled by Stripe inside the Bridge app.
05Can it undo a change it made?+
Mostly yes — and we are explicit about the limits. Edits such as cut, copy, paste, nudge and separate use Pro Tools’ own undo, so they walk back cleanly. Plug-in parameter changes work differently: Pro Tools does not place them in its edit undo history, so Amia captures every original value before moving a control and restores from those captured values rather than relying on Cmd+Z. Destructive, structural actions — adding or deleting tracks, bouncing, changing I/O or assignments — always ask for confirmation before they run. In the rare case something cannot be restored automatically, Amia tells you exactly how to undo it manually. Nothing is silently left changed.
06What about privacy and my session data?+
Lang3 is local-first. Basic requests and your personal mixing memory stay on your Mac, encrypted and private to you. Only the intent and the minimum context needed to answer an Advanced request leave the machine, and cloud requests are served from regional infrastructure with data kept in-region where required. Official knowledge and personal/community knowledge are held separately with clear confidence levels, and your private data is never used to train shared models.
07Which languages does it understand?+
Lang3 can read and drive Pro Tools when its interface is set to English, Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Korean or Japanese, so it follows your DAW even if you do not run it in English. Talking and typing to Amia launches in English, with more conversation languages added as the service expands. The mixing knowledge base is maintained in English and localized, so advice stays consistent across languages.
08Which DAWs are supported, and when can I buy hardware?+
At launch Lang3 deeply supports Pro Tools on macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel). Windows support and additional DAWs — Logic Pro, Cubase, Studio One and others — follow in stages; the aim is every major DAW, with Pro Tools first. The L3EQ and L3DY controllers open for reservation after the software beta. Join the early-access list and choose hardware updates to be notified the moment the Store goes live, with no deposit and no commitment.
